Week 13 - Summary

Summary for Spring 2022              Hello friends! This semester we have looked into the possibility that plants are capable of emitting sounds under stress. Experiments were conducted with tomato and tobacco plants. Each plant was placed in exact conditions and the independent factor was how the plant was stressed. It was hoped that each plant would become triggered when stressed and release a specific sound frequency which we could record. We then hoped to graph the sound waves and provide supporting evidence.             However, we ran into a conundrum, where we were not able to captivate a clean recording. We were never able to fully eliminate the background noise. The true quest is determining how  to actually pick up what the plant is doing. This did feel a little discouraging, I was really hoping to find supporting evidence. I personally feel quite convinced that there is something happening, however it has yet to be proven.
